How we’ve helped
“The perspective that I am able to bring to the team from my own journey means that patients and their families always have an advocate no matter how difficult their behaviour.
“I’m extremely grateful for the commitment of the Maple Ridge ACT team staff. The work they have done, and continue to do, is nothing short of life changing. If you have a loved one with complex needs, this program may be just what they and your family need to move towards a better quality of life.”
The things I admire most about the management, doctors, nurses, and staff are that they possess the qualities of being non-judgemental and impose no heavy expectations. Based on my experience, and having observed how they interact with each other within ACT 1, with the other ACT teams, and other clients, I can say they treat each person with dignity and respect.
Caroline’s Peer Support has helped me in more ways than she may know. The quality of the personal care that she provided me can be measured by my life today. I have her to thank why I am still here.
You are amazing and helped me in every way. I always used to think to myself if I did not have my son’s love I would have killed myself instantly, then one day I thought of you and I realized it was only partially true because the two of you are why I am here. Forever grateful. I wish I met you the first day in hospital because I needed your (peer) support then.
Without their help I would still be homeless and struggling I could never say thanks enough.
At Christmas last year I was alone and they were the only ones who offered me a gift. When I moved in my apartment they came and see me every day the first 2 weeks to be sure everything was ok. They provided a 200$ of basics stuff I couldn’t afford right away Like toilet paper and dishes and sheets.
I would like to first thank the team for everything they have done for me.
Over the years, being an ACT 1 client has been a very rewarding experience. They offer one-to-one support, opportunities to participate in groups, and go on outings.
