The administrative assistant is also known as the Office Manager or Program Assistant. They are responsible for overall coordination of non-clinical service to staff, clients and the health authority. Without providing clinical service, they still have detailed comprehension of the health care system and direct client service. 

The role of the Administrative Assistant includes, but is not limited to, these duties:

  • Provides administrative and clerical support to team for efficient clinical operations
  • Manages clinic reception including phone calls and in-person visits, triages communication when determining urgency, provides resource information and responds to various inquiries.
  • Maintains medical health record to align with professional and legislative standards.
  • Transcribe medical dictation reports and other program support documents following health authority protocol for clinical informatics, statistical record keeping and program planning.
  • Support clients and staff with the treatment plan including providing necessary supplies to clients.
