An ACT team may have an embedded Probation Officer or Police Officer, who may also be referred to as the Mental Health Liaison. These team members address the criminal justice involvement of ACT participants.

The role of the Probation or Police Officer includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:

  • Contributing to safety care planning for clients with conditions.
  • Supporting staff in providing protective measures for high-risk situations (Police).
  • Communicating any incidents from jurisdictional authorities to healthcare staff.
  • Providing support for crisis intervention.
  • Building trusting relationships with clients and community members.
