ACT Advanced Practice Project Team

The BC Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Advanced Practice Project Team is a specialized group in British Columbia dedicated to improving care for individuals with severe mental illness who have complex needs. 

Their work involves implementing best practices for Assertive Community Treatment teams across the province, ensuring high-quality, community-based support.

Melissa has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of British Columbia. Melissa joined the ACT-AP team in March 2025 as the interim Provincial Lead.

 Melissa began her career in VCH in 2014 as a front line case manager on a community mental health team. Melissa has worked as an intake coordinator for mental health and substance use services as well as a team leader overseeing access and discharge for tertiary services. Most recently, Melissa led the expansion of the Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) services in VCH. Melissa has a strong interest in collaborative engagement and implementing quality improvement strategies to improve care pathways for clients and their families who are accessing mental health and substance use services.
